If it feels like New Jersey’s online casinos are setting a new record every other month, you’re not imagining it.
The state’s online casino revenue got to $276.3 million in May, the biggest monthly numbers ever recorded. The previous high of $273.2 million was set in December 2025.
That also means New Jersey’s online casinos have now crossed the $270 million mark twice in six months, something that would have seemed ambitious only a couple of years ago.
Online casinos are carrying the state right now
There was a time when Atlantic City’s casino floors and sportsbooks got all the attention. Not anymore.
May’s total was 11.9% higher than the $246.8 million reported a year ago. Even more, it was almost identical to April’s growth rate, meaning this isn’t a one-off.
Five months into 2026, online casinos have already generated $1.32 billion. At the same point last year, they were sitting at $1.16 billion.
That extra $167 million did not appear out of thin air.
So what’s behind the boom?
A few things are working in New Jersey’s favor.
Casino operators are constantly refreshing their game portfolio with exclusive slots, branded releases, and progressive jackpots that keep climbing into seven figures.
Hard Rock Bet alone has produced multiple million-dollar jackpot winners this year, while operators like DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetMGM continue bringing new promotions almost every week.
Then there’s convenience.
Driving to Atlantic City is no longer the only way to play. Players can jump into thousands of slots or live dealer games from their couch, on the train, or while waiting for their coffee.
It turns out people are quite like that.
One operator had a particularly good month
While the market as a whole was celebrating, Golden Nugget’s online license had even more reason to smile.
Its three casino partners combined to generate $86.45 million. That was easily more than any other license in the state.
The biggest part came from FanDuel Casino, which contributed $63.24 million. BetRivers added $12.43 million, while Golden Nugget Online Casino chipped in another $10.79 million.
Second place went to Resorts Casino Hotel, whose online brands generated $53.89 million. We already know DraftKings Casino was the major contributor.
The brand was also the state’s second biggest online casino operator after generating $46.9 million during the month.
Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa claimed third with $60.1 million across its online casino brands. BetMGM Casino did most of the heavy lifting there with $34.6 million, while Borgata Online Casino contributed $22.4 million.
Tropicana Atlantic City rounded out the top four after its online casino partners generated $21.8 million. The license includes Caesars Palace Online Casino, which had another strong month with $18.9 million in revenue.
Not everyone had a record month
While online casinos were popping champagne, sportsbooks and retail casinos had a much more silent May.
Retail casinos didn’t do much, with revenue inching up just 0.1% to $265.6 million.
Sportsbooks actually went backwards. They earned $85.2 million, down almost 17% from last May.
A quieter sports calendar certainly played a role, but sportsbooks are also operating in a more crowded betting field than they were a year ago.
